U11 Girls Win Innerkip Tournament!
U11 Girls took the Innerkip tournament by storm this past weekend!
The team started the tournament strong Friday night with a 12-5 win over Hickson. Saturday morning they played Norwich/Otterville #2, bats were on again with Alexis Bilton-Wilson getting two singles and a double. Everly Hartley and Elliot Berg each with two singles. Kaitlyn Green, Ava Rounds and Melayne Grieve with a single each. The girls managed to come back in the final inning scoring 5 runs to win 15-14.
Saturday afternoon the girls fought a tough battle coming up short with a 14-8 loss to St George. This led them to the semi finals Sunday morning vs. Norwich/Otterville #1. Melayna Grieve and Tessa Mulder pitched an excellent game with 7 strikeouts between them. The infield was solid making 5 outs, and the outfield would't let it by them. Erin Howe had a huge pop fly catch at centre and Kaitlyn Green was solid behind home plate! Embro came out with the win 11-5 and headed to the finals!
Embro faced St. George in the final game. St George got the flip for home team. Embro girls came out swinging and every single girl ended up on base during the game, which led to some excellent base running. Going into the top of the fourth inning (and nearing the time limit) Embro was down 8-5. The girls managed to get in 5 runs with a single by Erin Howe, couple of walks by Elliot Berg and Mia Fraser, a double by Charlie Munro and sealing the deal with a triple by Brooklyn Beattie! Embro still had to hold off runs in the bottom of the 4th. They managed to get the first out with a pop fly caught by Brooklyn Beattie. Tessa Mulder then went on to get two strike outs and finish the game! Embro won the tournament 10-8 over St. George. It was a fantastic weekend of ball by all players!
