ORSA Playdown Recap
The U11 Boys come home with 3rd place in their division after a great weekend of ball at the ORSA tournament in Norwich. Teams in their division were Chesley, Puslinch B, Lakefield, Springfield, Fisherville and Jarvis
Saturday morning, the boys started off against Chesley with a tough 14-11 loss in extra innings.
They went onto play Puslinch 'B' Saturday evening with a 13-7 victory.
Sunday morning they came out strong with another 13-7 victory over Lakefield.
After a short break they faced a South Oxford league rival in the Springfield Brewers where they were victorious again with a final score of 17-8.
This led into a back to back game with only a short 15 min break where the heat and fatigue factored into a 14-6 loss against Fisherville.
Jake Dufton, Parker Riehl and Lane Leversage carried the pitching workload of 5 games over 2 days contributing to the teams success.
Carter Newman was solid behind the plate catching the majority of the innings played all weekend.
The defense was sound and the boys adapted well to the ORSA rules, which are substantially different from our regular league rules and took advantage on the base paths.
The team really seems to be reaping the benefits of our hitting clinic as there were a lot of quality at bats.
Over the course of 5 games, the full lineup contributed offensively as follows:
Lane Leversage: 5 walks, 6 singles and a triple
Clark Pletsch: 2 walks, 2 singles, 3 doubles, 1 triple and 2 homeruns
Parker Riehl: 5 walks, 2 singles, 2 doubles and 1 triple
Jake Dufton: 3 walks and 1 double
Liam McSheery: 2 walks, 5 singles, 1 double and 1 triple
Carter Newman: 2 walks, 4 singles, 1 double and 1 triple
Logan Denis: 1 walks, 5 singles, 1 double
Max Barnett: 1 walk, 2 singles, 3 doubles and 1 triple
Alex Boogard: 5 walks and 1 single
Colton Knott: 1 walk
Jack VanderHorn-Goodale: 3 walks and 2 singles
Cade Munro: 5 walks and 1 single
Gayvn King: 5 walks and 1 singles
The coaching staff, parents and EMBA are incredibly proud of the dedication and effort this young team put forward this weekend. It is very encouraging for the growth of fastball in our small community.
The boys play next against the PDP Lightning Wednesday June 28th at 6:45 in Bright.
